Throughout my 2 years in the New Literacies and Global Learning program, I have gained a vast amount of knowledge in related to strategies for reading with diverse learners. I am currently still at the same Title 1 school with a very diverse population teaching kindergarten students.

- Using technology in lessons (Smartboard, Discovery Education videos, Youtube songs, IPads, Laptops)
- Students should collaborate with other peers in reading and writing skills (Daily 5 & etc.)
- Small grouping is needed, especially with younger students, to work on reading
- Providing a diverse literature collection is needed
- Using games and songs can be used to engage students
- Finding what motivates kids is important for success
- Conducting different assessments can help you know what direction to take with a child in interventions
